The Apurva Kempinski Bali seemed to meander down the hillside like one of Bali's iconic rice terraces, emerging from the cliffs and gradually descending to the Indian Ocean.
Award-winning architect Budiman Hendropurnomo of Denton Corker Marshall drew inspiration from the rice terraces and their centuries-old "subak" irrigation system to create the concept for the property.
From the moment you entered the pendopo-style lobby at the highest point of the resort, it was an inviting space with an impressive tiered roof that drew the eye to the sky. Ornaments such as the intricately carved Javanese Gebyok partitions told of Indonesia's thriving Majapahit empire and created an atmosphere that brought the country's history to life.

We began our culinary journey of discovery at Koral, Bali's first aquarium restaurant, where we were treated to delicacies from across the archipelago. The colorful underwater world around us enhanced the taste experience and made our dinner an unforgettable event.
As a lover of Japanese cuisine, Izakaya by OKU was a true highlight. Inspired by the award-winning cuisine of the OKU restaurant at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, we were treated to authentic Japanese flavors and exquisite dishes.
Another highlight was Bai Yun, the resort's signature Chinese restaurant. Here we enjoyed a sensational dim sum and hotpot experience that transported us into the culinary world of China.On the top floor of the resort, we experienced a unique atmosphere at L'atelier by Cyril Kongo while sampling premium spirits and cigars. The creative design of the space and the selection of premium drinks made this a popular meeting place for connoisseurs.
In the lobby, Selasar Deli offered a relaxed atmosphere where we could unwind with a cup of special Luwak coffee and a refreshing Jamu herbal tonic.
In the sun-drenched days, we enjoyed refreshing drinks at the Kubu pool bar while admiring the picturesque backdrop of the ocean. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the 60-meter swimming pool was the perfect place to swim a few laps and refresh ourselves.
The Apurva Spa was a true revelation for us. As soon as we crossed the door step, we left everyday life behind us and immersed ourselves in a world of beauty and relaxation. The lovingly designed rooms led us to our treatment room, where we completely let ourselves go with a wonderfully relaxing Balinese massage for 90 minutes.
After our treatment, we enjoyed a cup of relaxing tea in the relaxation area while wrapping ourselves in soft bathrobes and enjoying the open view of the ocean.
